1. Ramadan is the 9^th month of the Islamic calendar.
2. The word Ramadan is derived from the Arabic word “Ramadha” which literally translates to mean “Intense heat”
   
   • Heat as in exposure to Allah’s mercy which will burn away sins.
   • Heat as regards rising temperature in the stomach.
   • Heat because when Islamic months where enforced, the month of fasting coincided with the intense heat of summer months.

   
   

3. Ramadan is the month in which the Quraan was sent down as a guide to mankind and clear sign for guidance and criteria for right and wrong.
4. The gates of Jahannam (Hell) are locked and the gates of Jannah (Heaven) are left wide open.
5. Laylatul-Qadr is a night in Ramadan, which has so much bounty that it is better than a thousand months.
