Why we need to understand the Quran?

(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect. [Quran, 38:29]

The Quran is a guide to humanity which also includes you. Since none of us want to be misguided, it is paramount not only to read or recite the Quran, but to understand and implement it in our lives as well.

A major challenge with Muslims is that they do not have time to learn. This short course is the best option for them. You will inshaAllah start performing daily recitations with understanding which will improve your concentration in Salah. You will be encouraged and find it easy to start the process of understanding Qur’an because you will begin to know almost half of the words on every page of the Qur’an!

Short Course Introduction

This is a 9-hour course which is offered in 3 sessions.

Each student will recieve a workbook, mp3s, powerpoints and other material to assist learning.  The course consists of Surah Al-Fatihah, the last 6 Surahs, parts of Salah, etc. It also contains basic necessary Grammar. Through these selections, almost 100 words of the Qur’an are taught which occur around 40,000 times in the Qur’an (out of a total of approx. 78,000 words). That comes to around 50%!!!

The course will be presented by Amina Ebrahim.  Amina studied Arabic in Damascus, Syria, at the University of Damascus and the Sheikh Ahmed Kuftaro Institute, where she completed level V Arabic studies.

Pre-requisite: You should be able to read Arabic

The cost of the course – for all the course material – is R150. Interested students who cannot afford this fee are welcome to apply for bursaries.
